Age:  8 years

Good with dogs: Yes

Good with cats:  Unknown

Good with kids: Yes, older kids

Weight:  80 lbs

Name/Nicknames:  Kaiser

Hobbies: Napping, Chewing on Kongs, Watching TV

Tricks/Commands:  Come, Sit, Shake Down

Crate Trained:  Yes - But doesn’t need it

Potty Trained:  Yes

Activity Level:  Low.  I normally just need a pretty short walk once a day.

Fun things I do: I like to go for walks, and love to meet new people.  I also like to frolic in the yard and watch the wildlife in the woods.

Socialization/who I currently live with:  I currently live with my foster family and am primarily cared for by teenagers. They also have 2 other dogs, that I go on walks with.

Interesting things about me:  Even though I’m an older guy, you wouldn’t know it, my mom said I’m pretty spunky for 8 years old.  I normally just hang out with teenagers all day, go for a walk, and then nap the rest of the day.  I’m pretty content playing it low key.

What am I looking for:  I’m looking for a home that can allow me to relax.  I don’t need much, just a family that loves me and wants me to be part of it.  I could probably live with another dog, but it needs to be a low key dog.  I’m older, and not looking for a super active playmate. While there is a possibility that I could be ok with smaller kids, it’s important that they give me my space.  However, I do really love some dog savvy older kids and teenagers are my favorite.

Notes from my foster mom:  Kaiser has been a perfect house guest, which is partially why we’ve had him for so long.  We’ve had him for roughly a year, due to COVID we had a long wait to get into the vet for his normal shots etc, and then weren’t really in a hurry to put him up for adoption because he’s been so great. He’s house trained, kennel trained (But he doesn’t enjoy it and he doesn’t need to be in one, he’s not a garbage dweller), teenager trained, TV  He normally just lays around, until you ask him if he wants to go for a walk.  He’ll go stand at the door, or paw at it go to potty.  My kids are 13-17, and they have their friends over, and he’s always super great and wants to hang out with them.  He sleeps in my sons room every night, and even if he’s gone, thats where you’ll find him.  We have a walk out rambler, that backs up to the woods, and he normally lays in front of the door and watches the woods, or will go out and hang out in the yard.  He gets along fine with my rottweiler, but he doesn’t want to play with her at all, but we walk them together quite often.  He’s also a great walker, wants to meet people, and non-reactive to the barrage of dogs and loose dogs in the neighborhood. He’s older, has some arthritis, and doesn’t appreciate getting handled too hard, or pushed around, which is why kids that have appropriate  boundaries would be fine. He has been a perfect, quiet, house guest.  We will all be sad to see him leave, but very happy for him to have his forever home.
